Karen Morath

Karen Morath founded M Power in 2001 to work with clients - individuals and organisations - to identify and fulfil their needs.

She is a consultant, writer and speaker (and mum to three knock-out kids).

Since beginning her career as a public relations consultant in 1983 (still looking for anyone who will believe she was eight years old at the time) she has consulted to the senior management of major organisations throughout Australia.

Karen also conducts workshops and training sessions and is spending increasing amounts of time speaking on a variety of topics centred on individual and organisational effectiveness.

Her upbeat and engaging presentation style means her presentations are interactive and enjoyable without crossing the line into 'ra ra' motivational sessions.

She uses humorous anecdotes and frighteningly real observations of human and organisational behaviour to inform, inspire and entertain.

Her speeches and presentations are ideal for conferences, special events, training days and seminars.

Keynote addresses can be customised to suit client need or clients choose from M Power's menu of popular topics. Click here for the list of speaking topics.

Prior to establishing M Power, Karen held senior consulting roles with national public relations consultancies, primarily Professional Public Relations and The Rowland Company, and was the state public relations and advertising manager for Elders Pastoral when she was 22.

Karen has a Bachelor's degree in journalism and politics and a Master's degree in communication as well as qualifications in public relations and management.

She is also a sessional academic, currently at Monash University, who has lectured at most of the major universities in Melbourne and was a sessional teacher in the TAFE sector for many years.

She reads widely and obsessively and is contemplating a 12 step program to deal with her magazine habit. Karen is dedicating more of her waking hours to writing than ever before and her articles on decision making, personal effectiveness and life balance, time management, public relations, communication and small business are regularly published in print media and websites.

She is a regular contributor to the Sydney-based flyingsolo.com.au, an online resource brimming with small business advice, you can read her articles here. She also contributes to the Canadian-based evancarmichael.com Free articles and checklists are also regularly published on this website and Karen has written M Power's monthly electronic newsletter 'The M Powerer' (formerly m news) since July 2001. In pursuit of her own version of la dolce vita, Karen attends Italian language lessons each week, makes appointments in her children's social diaries to say 'hi, remember me' whenever they can fit her in and is doing everything in her power to live by her credo that 'life can't be all palm trees and margaritas but there are worse game plans'.
